The Opportunity

The Morgridge Institute for Research seeks a research specialist to work in the Fan laboratory within the Metabolism research focus area. The research specialist will participate in studies on cancer metabolism and metabolic regulation. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Perform experiments including mammalian tissue culture, genetic modification of cell lines, immunoblotting, quantitative PCR, and other related analysis
  • Participate in qualitative and quantitative analyses of metabolites and other bio molecules using HPLC- mass spectrometry-based metabolomics
  • Participate in data analysis and experimental design
  • Ordering, organizing, and maintaining lab equipment and supplies
  • Contribute to collaborative projects

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, analytical chemistry, or related field. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with laboratory research. Experience with techniques required for the study (listed above) is preferred. Candidates must be highly responsible and organized, have ability to work well both independently and within a team, and possess strong communication skills and analytical skills.
